Many times listed amongst the most beautiful towns/villages in France, Aubeterre is a "goto" venue just 14 minutes drive from Le Pible.
Relax and take a coffee and croissant in the town square, enjoy lunch or dinner either alfresco, or in one of its inviting restaurants. Soak up the sun on the river beach with safe bathing for all the family or take a few gentle hours canoeing on the scenic River Dronne.

The old town of Bergerac is found just off the River Dordogne. Many restaurants and cafe's plus more modern shops towards the centre. The main street market days are Wednesday and Saturday (Saturday the biggest) at Place Gambetta however the covered market at Place Louis de la Bardonnie is open every morning except Monday.
Check out the river cruises from the old port, they take about an hour.
A must do day out. Picturesque old Brantome is situated on an island in the River Dronne. There a many river side restaurants or cafe's. Gentle walks around the neighbouring parks. In peak season it can get busy. Market day is Friday when the old town is consumed in stalls and brightly coloured awnings.
Check out the river cruises and canoe hire and if you want to make a full day of your trip visit L'Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Brantôme and its caverns and caves.
For the ultimate romantic evening dinner seek out a river side reservation at the Moulin de l'Abbaye.
A central town in the northern Dordogne area of the Perigord. Riberac comes alive on a Friday when it hosts the biggest market in the northern Dordogne region. Take a relaxing coffee in one of the many cafes around the market or lunch at the Cafe de Colonnes.
Any route to Cognac will take you through the vineyards servings its famous brandy distilleries.On the banks of the Charente River the old town has pedestrianised streets amid cafe's, restaurants and boutique shopping outlets. You can visit several of the most famous Cognac producers taking tours around their facilities with tasting of their products.

Situated half way between Angouleme and Cognac on the banks of the Charente. This pretty town is home to the Courvoisier distillery. A walk through the old town will find some very pleasant restaurants. There is a delightful park situated on an Island in the Charente
Famous throughout the world as the heart of Bordeaux's red wine industry. This pedestrianised village is preserved in its original authentic stone and has many restaurants hotels and winery's to sample the best Bordeaux wines on the market.
It is surrounded by vineyards where you can visit and sample their wines.
Further down the river Dronne from Aubeterre, St Aulaye is also blessed with a beach and some amusements. The town is quite pretty with some local restaurants.
Nestled on a bend in/over the River Dronne with lovely river side walks on and around an ancient foot bridge.
You can take the shorter route but the river side route from Riberac to Brantome via the very picturesque village of Bourdeilles is to be recommended. Take a coffee or dine at the Table d'hôtes de Charme in the Pl.de la Halle au ble and/or visit the beautiful Chateau de Bourdeilles (a Medieval Fortress ) and tour its grounds.
