There are many local markets some small, some large, some artisan. Below are some of our favourites from the "larger" category. Smaller markets can be found locally in Aubeterre (Sunday), Bonnes ( ?? ), Montmoreau (Saturday).
Chalais Market (Weekly)Monday Mornings
The local market. Not so touristy but a real local market with a wide range of food and goods. Ideal for stocking up on fresh local produce.
The biggest market in the region. Everything for the tourist and the shopper. The sights the sounds the smells are all here! Take a coffee in any of the cafe's and lunch on the back terrace at Cafe des Colonnes.
OK its a bit of a trip but we think well worth it. Perigueux old town is a complete joy with lots to do and see. A market day makes it even better! Get there in plenty of time, pick any coffee stop for 10.00 and choose your lunch venue before 12.30!
Not just a car boot sale! This Brocantes is bigger than most markets and if it coincides with your stay make sure you have that extra luggage space. Catch a coffee at Cafe du Commerce and lunch at Brasserie Celice.
